I don’t know about you but, I have been in a rut of long fantasy books that are all 600 pages long. While these Epic tales are, exactly that, Epic — sometimes I could use a quick little break that I can hit that “complete” button on Story Graph or Goodreads. It feels like horror was made for novellas. There are so many classics to choose from Haunting on Hill House by Shirley Jackson, the OG of OG’s The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins, this category has been dominated by women for a century. The few I chose keep with that same trend.

Literary Fiction Reads Under 300 pages
There’s no shortage of Literary Fiction option of short stories. So I wanted to choose a couple I haven’t seen on 1000 other lists. These two reads are very opposite. I almost added the Frederick Bachman one to the cozy section where as, The Dinner is a twisty thriller.

H is neighbors, however, have a different plans involving the apartment board and a recently appeared frying pan. Hysterical and oddly heartwarming.
